Doug Fiola is a writer, that specialized in Poems. Over the years Doug has been compiling hundreds of them.

Poems are based on his own imagination from a moment, a story heard, anything can provide inspiration. But mostly his family, his surrounding, his own life has been the source of plenty of poems.

Working on creating a book based on Doug’s poems has been a beautiful experience, taking the words placed on a Word document and giving them the space to be and adding some embellishments with small visuals.

One of the main challenge while working on this book was to find a balance between the pages and the elements in it. Doug wanted the emphasis and focus to remain on the words and to keep the “illustration” side of it minimal, keeping the book in a Black and White version.

Working with B&W only is really interesting and as a Graphic Designer brings you to thinking about ways to use these two “colors” in ways that will keep the interest of the reader and will allow the content to be read easily for everyone.
